The Astral Plane’s favorite pastime…

The smell of roasted peanuts in the air, the taste of a warm ballpark frank, the sound of the pipe organ playing away, and the sight of two teams playing a magically charged game of Mageball as the runner gets encased in a block of arcane ice. This is the experience every spectator of this fine sport relishes above all else. This is Mageball, a magical game where Casters, Thinkers, and Meatheads alike get together and prove they can out-magic each other while batting balls out of the park. Fireballs will be thrown, tornados will be summoned, and a victor will be crowned.

Localized entirely on your tabletop…

Mageball: The Arch-League is an open source 2 Player competitive fantasy baseball strategy simulator game with a magical twist. You take on the role of a Mageball Manager as you and your opponent take command of a team of 12 Unique Mageball Players, each with their own strengths, weaknesses, magical spells, and fully illustrated cards. Strategize by placing your players in key positions on the field, cast devastating spells on the field to slow down your opponent, and outplay each other as you both compete to see who will be victorious on the magical sandlot.

Build your team. Devise your strategy. Cast your spells. PLAY BALL!

 FAQs & Official Rulings

  • The long and short of it means that the Mageball ruleset can be modified, republished, repurposed, etc. for profit so long as proper credits are given to Starchild Games and you state that the creation is “Powered by Mageball”. For more info you can check out the specific license used for Mageball here!

A more detailed legalese version of the license can be located here!

  • Yes. Just as long as you give proper links and credits to Starchild Games and clearly state that your fan creation is “Powered By Mageball”.

Also buying a physical copy of the game or donating to the creator’s Patreon/Ko-Fi would be nice too!

Be sure to email us an example of the work. Who knows? We may even host a spotlight for it on the official website in the future!

  • Whenever a Perk/Pitfall/etc states “+1” or “-1” to any stat or roll, that means you must either add a die to your roll or subtract a die from your roll depending on the effect.

  • While we would greatly appreciate it if you helped support us by buying the official game since we worked so hard on it, it’s not strictly necessary to play.

So long as you have a copy of the rules, your team, your minis, tokens, Pitch/Swing Cards, and a game board (whether official or unofficial), you can play the game physically.

Digitally, Mageball is available on Tabletopia, Tabletop Playground, and Tabletop Simulator.

  • If you’re having trouble finding people in real life to play with you, you can always try finding someone to play with on our discord! We have versions available on Tabletopia, Tabletop Playground, and Tabletop Simulator for free.

  • Considering the open source nature of Mageball, we can tell you that we only have jurisdiction of rules and regulations in the tournaments hosted on the official Mageball League discord.

If you have enough players interested in starting your own league, then you already have a league! Your league your rules! You don’t need our permission to start your own Mageball League. Have fun! Go wild!

  • The Arch-League (pronounced like Arch-Mage) in Mageball is the canonical in-universe Mageball League. This league includes the Mageballers and teams made by Starchild Games.

Not to be confused by the Astral-League or the Mageball League which are the two interchangeable names for the official Mageball discord.
